I'd concider selling my liver, any offers....... Seriously I would consider selling my 1D3 for this, only thing i don't like is the 9 point focus.
Movie mode sounds great, and 21 mp is a mind blowing, I recon theres a lot of pissed off 1DS3 owners out there. Same sensor for 3rd of the price.

Pre release prices are always a bit high, I recon this will be available for £1600 six months after it comes out. and £1200 a year after.

The launch price is ridiculous plus we are paying $1500 more than USA price.

As Syman said £1600 would be a realistic price...   But do I need 21mp's. I will stick with my 1D3  Smiley

...or we can all go back to fine-grain film and scan the negs! Especially medium format - gobs of resolution there, boys! Grin

Ok, maybe I got a bit over excited but this sounds good. 21MP is in medium format territory with the immediacy and control of digital. Cropping wouldn't be an issue with this much area. I could live without the movie mode though. There are also current 5D issues, bit noisy at high ISO compared to high end Nikons and dust - mine is a dust magnet!
Am I being swept up in the megapixel race? Sure we can shoot with 10 or 12 megapixels and interpolate to more than we will ever need. Only on rare occasions have I ever printed bigger than A3. So why is every new camera raising the bar? I suppose it's what sells. Thinking about it logically I don't need more pixels but I'll feel left out eventually when 20MP becomes standard, which will happen!
Now I'll go and blow the dust off my sensor and think about photography not technology Smiley.

Hi James - ive deliberately started 'low end', with a view to trying to improve both my photographic technique as well as post production capabilities.

Much as the technology race continues (as it always will) you've got to be rich or need a good camera for commercial reasons mostly to justify the 'hot diggety dang' 20mp price. Cheesy

Yeah I saw that, makes you wonder what price it will hit the streets at. £1600 would be tempting for wedding photogs, wouldn't it Syman Wink

£60.00 (or more) for a battery Shocked. That's what a spare battery for the 5D2 costs. Each one contains a chip which communicates info to the camera. A percentage readout is given and the camera can remember up to six different batteries as each one has a serial code. It will also tell you when it needs to be disposed of.
The vertical grip has also been changed so that's more money. Is this just to put off third party manufacturers supplying batteries? Probably. There are cheap batteries which will work with the camera but there is no level indication with them so they will just die without warning.

The 1d3 battery is/was £99

All prices are on the increase so looks like the 5D2 may stay around the £2000 mark for some time.....

I got mine on Tuesday off ebay for a very good price. Haven't been well and the weather has been crap so can't show much enthusiasm at the moment. Not much difference physically bar the bigger lcd but when you stick an L zoom on it it looks a bit weedy, the vertical grip will help when it arrives. Why didn't I keep painting pictures - it's a helluva lot cheaper!

UK one Pete - got lucky. I was gonna get one anyway and don't think they were getting any cheaper, especially once the black dot issue was fixed.
