Hi Pete,
I use the demo version of this software and it is pretty good, but sometimes it blurs the image too much.  If, supposing, I take a closeup photo of a deer and I love the sharpness of the deer but the background is noisy, This software will despecle the whole image, so I lose a lot of detail of the deer.  So what I do is this--I run the image through Neat Image and save it as, say, deer_filtered.  Then I go back to the original and despecle or blur only the background.  I open the filtered image in my editing software, (in my case it is GIMP) and copy the image then close it down.  I then open the original image and paste the filtered image over it as a new layer.  Then I can blend the two layers together until I am fairly satisfied.  I lose a small amount of the deer detail, but my background is now clean.  I could not do without Neat Image.
